St. Vincent Sorrel Drink

Ingredients

  • 6-8 cups Dried Sorrel
  • 16 cups Water
  • 2 1/2 cups Sugar
  • 2 tsp Almond essence
  • 10 whole Cloves
  • 1 oz Fresh ginger root (peeled and sliced)

Instructions

  1. Pour water into a large pot and add sorrel, ginger, and cloves.

  2. Boil for five minutes.

  3. Leave to steep overnight or for several hours.

  4. When steeped and cooled, strain using a cheese cloth into a large container or pitcher.

  5. Add sugar and almond essence and mix thoroughly.

  6. Pour into a glass with ice, and enjoy!
