There are many different kinds of potato salad. Depending on where you're from around the world, or even in the Unites States, your thoughts of what goes into a potato salad will be different from what someone else is used to. That's why when I was in my America's Regional Cuisines class we tried potato salads from different regions to see the stark difference between each one. Out of all the potato salads I had though, I would have to say my favorite one was from the Chesapeake Bay Shore ... continue reading...

Bread. We all love it and wish we could make it. Some of us can, while others are too afraid of tackling such a daunting task. But with this book we all can become bakers in our own rights! Whether you want a sweet bread or a savory one, one that requires a lot of hard work and patience or a quick bread you can finish in under an hour, a bread from a culture you are familiar with or international breads you want to try, this book has it and is ready to help walk you through every step to ensure ... continue reading...
Spicy Olive Bread
There is nothing my family loves more than freshly baked bread. Whether sweet (preferred by me and Mom) or savory (my sisters and Dad), when you smell the waft of bread floating in the air you know it's gonna be a good meal. That's why when I came home for Thanksgiving break I knew I had to make this spicy olive bread. Because Thanksgiving isn't Thanksgiving without freshly baked bread (and this recipe was a favorite in our baking class), I had to let my family try it too. Bread ... continue reading...
Chocolate, Matcha, and Pomegranate Tart
Pomegranate is one of my FAVORITE fruits, so when I saw this tart I just had to try it! And while matcha is not something I have usually, I thought, "Why not give it a go?". So that's what I did. You can find the recipe on page 196 of The Perfect Pie; and just like every other recipe in the book the photography is phenomenal and the recipe is so detailed it's hard to mess up (If you are interested in reading my thoughts on the rest of the book you can find my review here: The Perfect ... continue reading...
Creamy Asparagus Soup
I love a good soup, especially during the winter on a cold day. I love asparagus but have yet to try it in soup form. I love fast, simple, easy to follow recipes for inspiration on what to make for lunch. What do these three things have in common? Creamy asparagus soup! (I don't know if that made sense y'all, but roll with me here because doesn't that soup look good?) Vegetables Illustrated, page 19, has a recipe that makes a heartier soup by having leaks as well as asparagus; it also ... continue reading...
The Perfect Pie
Thanksgiving is right around the corner guys, so you know what my family will be having for dessert! Why, pie, of course! But which one? I like pumpkin (and don't fight me on this, it is THE supreme pie) while my sisters like pecan, but mom has a thing for coconut so what about coconut cream pie? Oh little does my family know this Thanksgiving we are going to be having a whole different set of pies. And not only pies; galettes, tarts, hand pies, pies with different crusts and toppings, custard ... continue reading...
